David Hoag joined the MIT Instrumentation Lab in 1946. He initially worked on gunfire control and missile fire control against aircraft, and then moved on to be the technical director for the Apollo Guidance and Navigation program. Afterwards Hoag continued work on the Polaris ballistic missile guidance systems.
