The first disposable diaper was invented and patented in 1948 by Valerie Hunter Gordon. The origin of the Paddi, came about when Valerie became tired of washing cloth diapers for her 3rd child. She tried to find an alternative, but there wasn't one. Being granddaughter of inventor Sebastian Ziani de Ferranti, the solution was simple: build it.
