Eva Pereira joined Knight Foundation in June 2015. She helps manage the Knight Prototype Fund, a nationwide initiative that supports the development of early-stage media and technology projects. Since the launch of the program in 2012, Knight has funded more than 200 projects, which have received more than $9 million in total support. Prior to joining Knight, Pereira worked for five years as a web producer at Forbes in New York, where she helped manage the digital presence for the technology channel. She earned a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she specialized in technology and media studies. While attending graduate school, she worked with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on open government and open data initiatives. She also worked with the New York City Mayor’s Office to develop a health and well-being report for the five boroughs, using data on health, educational achievement and socioeconomic status.
